Barn fire in Hampshire kills several farm animals

A late-night barn fire in Hampshire killed several farm animals Wednesday, but no injuries to any people were reported.

The fire was reported just before 10:45 p.m. on the 19N000 block of Harmony Road. Firefighters received several reports of smoke and flames from passersby.

Multiple neighboring fire agencies were called in to assist because of the lack of fire hydrants and other firefighting resources in the area.

Two adjacent buildings sustained damage from the fire as well. The barn was a total lost, fire officials said.

It’s unclear what type of farm animals perished in the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
