CODCON brings gaming and anime to College of DuPage April 17-19

The College of DuPage Sci-Fi/Fantasy & Gaming Club and the Anime & Cosplay Club present the 29th annual CODCON, a three-day gaming and anime event this April at the Student Resource Center, Room 2000, on the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

The event, which is open to all, runs from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday, April 17; 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, April 18; and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 19.

Guests may register at the event or receive a discounted price by registering in advance by Saturday, April 4. Registration instructions are available on the CODCON website.

“We offer a variety of role-playing, video and tabletop games, as well as an anime-inspired maid café, a costume masquerade and much more,” said James Allen, Ph.D., professor of English and faculty advisor to both clubs.

The inaugural CODCON took place in 1995 as a mini convention and steadily grew from fewer than a dozen attendees in its first year to an average of 400 in recent years.

This year’s event is casino-themed. Guests can expect video game and tabletop tournaments, costume contests, karaoke, panel discussions and vendors.
