Happy 15th: Aurora’s Paramount Theatre announces 2026-2027 season
The Paramount Theatre in Aurora, the country’s largest subscription theater, celebrates its 15th Broadway season with a new version of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” adapted and directed by artistic producer/casting director Trent Stork.
The four-show 2026-2027 season begins Aug. 26 with the regional premiere of “Mean Girls” by writer Tina Fey, composer Jeff Richmond and lyricist Nell Benjamin. Adapted from Fey’s 2004 coming-of-age film, the musical is about Cady, the new girl at her high school who gets involved with The Plastics, the school’s most popular clique headed by the ruthless Regina George.
That’s followed by Stork’s adaptation of “A Christmas Carol” (Nov. 11-Jan. 3, 2027). Next up is a revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Pulitzer Prize-winning musical examining creativity, passion, obsession and love. Inspired by 19th-century painter Georges Seurat and his masterwork “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte,” the show runs Feb. 10-March 28, 2027.
The season concludes with Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” (April 28-June 13, 2027). Matthew Silar, in his Paramount directorial debut, helms the 1980s-inspired show.
Performances take place at 23 E. Galena Blvd., Aurora. Paramount has a buy-two-shows, get-two-shows-free offer, with four-show packages starting at $73.
Broadway Series subscription renewals begin Jan. 26. During the renewal period, new subscribers can preorder subscriptions and queue up for the best seats after renewing subscribers receive theirs. The renewal period ends March 29. Single tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. June. 15.
