St. John’s hosts ‘Instrument Petting Zoo’ to kick off National Lutheran Schools Week

St. John’s Lutheran School, 101 N. Spring St. in Elgin, along with more than 1,800 preschools, elementary schools and high schools throughout the United States, will be celebrating National Lutheran Schools Week Jan. 25-30. The theme this school year is based on Psalm 98:4 “Let’s make a joyful noise.”

To kick things off, there will be a “Saturday Special” at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the school where members of the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra will host an “Instrument Petting Zoo.”

Orchestra musicians will read a music related story book, perform a musical piece, and invite students to play some of the musical instruments. This event is open to the public ages 3 to 6. No need to sign up in advance for this event. Drop-ins are welcome. There is no fee for this event. Enter at the 109 N. Spring St. door.

St. John’s Lutheran School nurtures young children by planting seeds of faith, in Jesus Christ, and laying a solid educational foundation. To learn more about St. John’s Lutheran Church and School, go to stjohns-school-elgin.org or facebook.com/StJohnsLutheranSchoolElgin/.
