Lombard teen awarded Handel Week Festival Choral Scholarship
Isabel Weaver, an 18-year-old soprano and senior at Willowbrook High School in Villa Park, has been named the recipient of the Suzanne and Charles Wells Choral Scholarship for the 27th annual Handel Week Festival.
A resident of Lombard, Weaver was selected in recognition of her musical achievement, dedication to choral singing, and promise as a young performer.
The youngest of four children in a musical family, Weaver discovered her love of singing through her school's choral program, jazz ensembles and musical theater productions. She has been selected three times for the Illinois Music Education Association Vocal Jazz Ensemble and twice for the ILMEA Honors Choir, including a featured soloist role at the 2025 district concert.
She has also appeared in Willowbrook's Vocal Jazz group and performed in two leading roles in school musicals. Weaver has studied voice with Stephani Springer since her freshman year.
The scholarship will allow her to continue private voice study and participate in the university choirs while she pursues a nursing degree at Elmhurst University.
“This scholarship means so much to me as it gives me the opportunity to sing advanced works by Handel with other performers and share the beauty of this music with others,” Weaver said.
Isabel is excited to perform with the Handel Week Festival's acclaimed chorus, orchestra, and soloists. Learn more at handelweek.com.
