Authorities: Rosemont man was trafficking guns, drugs throughout suburbs
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Group arrested a Rosemont man in Deerfield Thursday following an investigation of his suspected involvement selling cocaine and firearms in both Lake and Cook counties.
Andres Cardenas Guerrero, 26, of the 10400 block of Betty Court in Rosemont was charged with armed violence, four counts of unlawful delivery of cocaine and three counts of unlawful delivery of a firearm.
He remained in Lake County jail Friday with a detention hearing scheduled for the afternoon.
Lake County authorities worked in collaboration with the Chicago Field Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives on the investigation that began late last year.
Officials said Cardenas Guerrero sold firearms and cocaine to undercover detectives in both counties on several occasions during the investigation.
Because of the different jurisdictions, the investigators presented their evidence to the Illinois Attorney General this month. On Jan. 9, a Statewide Grand Jury indicted Cardenas Guerrero and an arrest warrant was issued.
