League of Women Voters partners with library for voter registration drive

The League of Women Voters of Central Kane County is partnering with the St. Charles Public Library to host a voter registration event on Sunday, Jan. 25.

It will be 1 to 4 p.m. in the library’s Huntley Community Room, 1 S. Sixth Ave. Certified deputy registrars from both the League and the library will be on hand to assist eligible members of the public with new voter registrations and registration updates.

To be eligible to register to vote in the upcoming March 17 General Primary election, a person must meet the following criteria:

• Be a U.S. citizen

• Be at least 18 years old, or must be 17 now and turning 18 years old by Nov. 3, 2026 (with birth dates on or earlier than Nov. 3, 2008)

• Be a resident of the precinct for at least 30 days prior to Election Day

Appointments are not required. Applicants will need to provide two forms of identification. Except in the case of unhoused individuals, one of the documents must include the applicant’s current residential address.

Following are all acceptable forms of identification: driver's license/state ID card (mobile and digital copies are not acceptable); Social Security card; public aid ID card; current utility bill; employee ID card; student ID card; lease or contract for residence; credit card; civic membership card; union membership card; or professional association membership card.
