Fox Valley Astronomical Society presents Extraordinary Leadership Award
The Fox Valley Astronomical Society recently awarded Mark Christensen with an Extraordinary Leadership Award.
Christensen has been a leader in the Chicago area astronomy community, and member of the Fox Valley Astronomical Society for four decades.
He has contributed tremendously with public outreach, education and awareness of astronomy and preserving dark skies for future generations. He also serves as a subject matter expert in the astronomy community and he is a skilled telescope maker.
Christensen holds a Masters in Physics from Purdue University and a Ph.D. in in Probability from Wayne State University.
Throughout his professional career, Christensen has been active as an amateur astronomer, serving as an officer and then observatory construction chairman of the Atlanta Astronomy Club before moving to the Chicago area where he has been a member of the Fox Valley Astronomical Society since 1986
