Speak forcefully to protect democracy

The unconscionable killing of Renee Nicole Good Wednesday in Minneapolis fits a disturbing pattern. Any protest against the unlawful actions of ICE and Border Patrol regarding immigrants is deemed to be “domestic terrorism.” This is straight out of George Orwell “1984”.

Since his inauguration in January 2025, PresidentTrump has made clear that the law is whatever he says it is. He shows complete contempt of constitutional norms. This a hallmark of an authoritarian state where “might makes right.”

Two hundred fifty years ago, this country rebelled against a supposedly tyrannical British monarchy. It is clear that we now have a home-grown tyrant in power. It’s up to all of us to make sure we don’t lose our rights. We need to stand up and speak forcefully against these attempts to destroy this democracy.
