Golfers hit the links for Chili Open in Des Plaines
A soggy course and a stiff wind didn’t deter golfers from enjoying the Chili Open with friends Saturday during one of the area’s most popular annual winter tournaments at the Des Plaines Golf Center.
Sporting a Chicago Bears hat and jacket as he played, Scott Spielmann of Mount Prospect said the event is a “blast” and he looks forward to it every year.
He didn’t let his interest in the upcoming Bears-Packers game deter him from playing nine holes of golf on a brisk, windy day, though that wasn’t the case with some of his friends.
“We had a couple people that bailed because they were going to the Bears game,” Spielmann said.
