Suspect caught after large police presence in Lake Zurich sparked by overnight burglary

A person was reported to be in custody late Saturday afternoon following a large police presence in Lake Zurich that began in connection with an overnight burglary.

Through social media, the Lake Zurich Police Department reported it had responded to the 200 block of Whitney Road with the assistance of the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System (NIPAS) attempting to apprehend a suspect in the burglary.

Surrounding residents were evacuated during the situation and the public was asked to avoid the area.

Even after the arrest, Lake Zurich police advised that officers likely would remain in the area for some time.
