St. Charles Library concert series hosting DeKalb folk singer

On Sunday, Jan. 11, join the St. Charles Public Library for an afternoon of music with Cora Vasseur — a talented singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Her performance will feature beloved hits from the 1950s and ’60s, including classics by The Beatles, The Monkees, Bobby Darin, The Everly Brothers, and more.

Cora Vasseur is a spirited folk artist from DeKalb, known for blending witty lyrics with heartfelt storytelling. Her style has been described as “a girls’ night out with Kacey Musgraves and Phoebe Bridgers.” A graduate of Second City’s Comedy Writing Program and Old Town School of Folk Music, Vasseur has performed across the Midwest at festivals like Porchfest and Cornfest, and has been featured on the Women of Substance Podcast and 102.3 The Coyote.

The concert will be at 2 p.m. in the Carnegie Community Room of the library, 1 S. Sixth Ave. This event is part of the library’s Sunday Concert Series, featuring a wide variety of live musical performances. The public is welcome, and the concert is free to attend.

The next concerts will be on Jan. 25 with the Alba Quintet performing Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” and Feb. 15 with The Heart Strings Duo with guitarist Casey Nielsen and vocalist Christy Bennett performing “Forgotten Women of the American Songbook.”
