Man found dead near Metra tracks in Libertyville identified

A person found dead Friday near the Metra tracks in Libertyville has been identified as a Mundelein man.

According to the Lake County Coroner's Office, preliminary autopsy results showed Allen Chiquini, 30, died from blunt force head injuries consistent with being struck by a train.

First responders called to the area of Ellis Avenue and Winchester Road about 5:30 p.m. were told the crew from an outbound Metra train on the Milwaukee District North tracks stopped the train after seeing an unresponsive person near the tracks. Chiquini was pronounced dead at the scene.

Five trains were held temporarily and the train that had stopped did not start moving for about two hours, Metra spokesperson Martha Hill said at the time.

Metra police are investigating.
