Glen Ellyn Park District to hold food, blood drives at Ackerman

The Glen Ellyn Park District will host a pair of community donation drives this month at its Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center.

A food drive will be held during regular businesses hours Jan. 15 -22. Donations will benefit the Glen House Food Pantry. People are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items and toiletries to Ackerman, 800 St. Charles Rd.

A list of the pantry’s top needs is posted at glenhousefoodpantry.org. The pantry operates out of a former Craftsman-style house and serves anyone in need who lives, works or attends school in DuPage County.

Additionally, a blood drive is set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, in partnership with Versiti Blood Center of Illinois. Donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment in advance online at Versiti’s website.
