Presenting the nominees for the Daily Herald Athlete of the Month Award for December. Please vote for whom you believe is most deserving of the award.

Torey Baskin

Cook County — Torey Baskin, Hoffman Estates, boys basketball

Baskin scored 27 points in the Hawks’ 51-43 victory in the Maine East Holiday Tournament championship game and was named MVP.

Trinity Jones

DuPage County — Trinity Jones, Naperville Central, girls basketball

Jones scored 40 points in Naperville Central’s 77-74 championship game victory against Maine South at the Komaromy Classic at Dundee-Crown. The Redhawks trailed 62-40, but Jones scored 35 points in the second half to lead the rally. She was named MVP.

Marshawn Cocroft

Kane County — Marshawn Cocroft, Kaneland, boys basketball

Cocroft scored 22 points in Kaneland’s 78-47 victory in the Plano Christmas Classic championship game, the Knights’ third straight tourney title. He also had 35 points in a semifinal win against La Salle-Peru.

Jaxson Davis

Lake County — Jaxson Davis, Warren, boys basketball

Davis scored a tournament record 51 points in the championship game at the Big Dipper Holiday Tournament, helping Warren (10-1) to an 88-54 victory. Davis also had 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists in the final and won the tournament MVP award.
