‘In his element’: DuPage train show draws young fans

It’s been more than a week since Christmas, but model train enthusiasts found their winter wonderland Sunday at the DuPage County Fairgrounds.

The Wheaton events center hosted the monthly Great Midwest Train Show on Sunday, featuring hundreds of model train vendors buying and selling trains and accessories, as well as model train displays available for young hobbyists to give a whirl.

Among them was 4-year-old Wells Bennett of LaGrange Park, who visited the show with his father, Conway.

“He's in his element. He is obsessed,” Conway Bennett said. “We came to see if we can get some things for our train set at home.”

The show returns to the fairgrounds Feb. 1.
