Insurance efficiency
Keith Peterson wrote about the American health care system being inefficient.
I have a good health care plan with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois that I would like to keep when I retire. Even though it would cost me more money, I am comfortable paying the employer share. I don’t understand why I should be required to use a Medicare plan when I reach retirement age, especially when the plan I have now is very good.
Just because it’s a group plan provided by an employer is not a good enough reason to abandon it into retirement. This, too, seems rather inefficient, especially after reading what Mr. Peterson wrote that the Medicare trust will be depleted in 2033, and incoming revenue will cover 89% of projected costs.
It is beyond appalling that 25 million to 26 million people lack health insurance.
Who should be addressing this serious issue? Congress and the president? Ideally, this would be a good place to start. Will this happen? Only time will tell. Sooner rather than later, hopefully.
