Fire at East Dundee truck lot leaves behind $400,000 in damage

Several vehicles at a semitruck parking lot in East Dundee caught fire Friday after a running semi was left unattended, authorities said.

Firefighters battled the multiple-vehicle fire for about 40 minutes, according to the East Dundee Fire Protection District. The fire caused an estimated $400,000 in property damage.

Firefighters responded just after noon Friday to 590 Healy Road, the site of an outdoor vehicle and equipment parking and storage business, officials said.

Crews arrived to find three vehicle-hauling trucks on fire, along with multiple cars on the trailer of one of the semis, according the fire district.

“No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire was determined to be a mechanical failure of a running semi left unattended,” the fire district reported in a news release.
