Teen arrested after shots fired in Elgin

A Gilberts teen, who Elgin police say fired a gun last weekend in Elgin, is now facing charges.

Christopher Ramirez, 18, of the 100 block of Durango Drive, is facing felony counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and reckless discharge of a firearm, as well as possessing a gun despite not being eligible for a firearm owners identification card, police said.

The shots reportedly were fired shortly before 4 a.m. Dec. 21 on the 1100 block of Fairwood Drive in Elgin. No injuries were reported.

Ramirez was arrested Tuesday and taken to Kane County jail Wednesday, pending a detention hearing.
