Hopes for the new year

Since no one asked my hopes for the new year, I'd like to offer the following: a ceasefire between warring factions in our own country, a permanent ban on assault weapons and the same for presidential pardons. Also, a playoff run for any Chicago sports team and an official new home for da Bears. And while I'm at it, how about a cap on expressway tolls, property taxes, health care payments and a head of lettuce. Since none of this is likely to happen, how about a safe and prosperous new year for anyone reading this letter.
