Festive holiday tradition lights up West Dundee neighborhood

For 10-plus years, the neighborhood of Fairhills of Canterfield in West Dundee, which is located west of Route 31 off Boncosky Road, lights up the neighborhood with special holiday cheer.

“We proudly set up luminaries on the sidewalk throughout the entire neighborhood on Christmas Eve,” says resident Ann Meyer. “Each year a group of neighbors come together to assemble 1,000 luminary bags, set them up on the sidewalk and light the candles.”

The three-day project is enjoyed by all that live in the neighborhood and by spectators who just drive through the area to see the tranquil site of the glowing sidewalks.

“It truly is beautiful and has become a proud annual tradition for all the neighborhood to enjoy,” Meyer adds. “We hope that everyone who drives through our neighborhood will be filled with the joy of the holiday season.”
