Palatine grandfather publishes children’s book

Longtime Palatine resident Bill Pohlman has completed his new children’s book, “The Fox in the Yard,” inspired by the stories he used to tell his daughter at bedtime.

According to publisher Covenant Books, “Pohlman’s new tale is told through delightful, fun-to-read rhymes. This imaginative book is sure to become a highly-requested bedtime story for young readers and listeners.

“Pohlman’s book ‘The Fox in the Yard’ is a charming children’s story about a family of foxes enjoying a day playing together with a young girl. The book is a heartwarming children’s book filled with vibrant illustrations that bring the author’s memorable characters to life.”

The story describes a warm, sunny afternoon with a young girl looking forward to playing in her backyard. To her surprise, she meets a talking fox along with his three baby kits. The father fox coaxes his children out of the bushes and explains that no matter how different they might be, children are children, and they love to play. The children spend the afternoon playing ball. As the sun goes down, the day ends with new friends and the promise of another day of play.

Pohlman is the retired owner of advertising agency AP Ltd. He spent his career writing a wide variety of promotional materials and press releases. He currently serves as the Township Assessor.

“I always wanted to write a children’s book,” said Pohlman. “Now that I had the opportunity, I thought no better story to tell than the ones my daughter and I loved to share when she was a child.”

Readers can purchase “The Fox in the Yard” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, ReaderHouse, Amazon or Barnes and Noble.
