Des Plaines Park District board gets a new member

After nearly a year short a member, the Des Plaines Park District board once again is at full strength.

Des Plaines resident Alan Osinski was appointed to the five-member board Tuesday night.

Commissioners initially approved Osinski’s selection in October following a closed-door meeting, public records indicate, but he didn’t recite the oath of office then or take a seat with the board at its November meeting.

Park District Executive Director Don Miletic said the October vote simply gave him permission to move forward and offer Osinski the job.

On Tuesday, commissioners voted 4-0 to name Osinski to their ranks, and then he was sworn in.

Osinski succeeds Don Rosedale, who stepped down in January. Rosedale had served on the board since 1999.

The parks board interviewed candidates for the volunteer post this summer, Miletic said.

Osinski, an assistant vice president with the F.H. Paschen construction company, will serve on the board through the 2027 election. He can run for a full 6-year term at that time.

“I am grateful and excited to serve the Des Plaines community,” Osinski said in a prepared statement. “My passions for service and recreation both began at a young age and I believe my experiences and professional background will bring an immediate impact to the Des Plaines Park District board.”
