Elgin Community College food drive nets over 34,000 donations

Elgin Community College received more than 34,000 donations during its 2025 Feed the Need Food Drive, nearly doubling the college’s total from last year.

The drive, which ran from Oct. 15 to Dec. 1, collected nonperishable food items for the college’s student-run Spartan Food Pantry, ensuring students and local families have access to meals.

The statewide initiative, organized by the Illinois Community College Board, engages campuses in a friendly competition while serving a critical need. Last year, Illinois community colleges collectively donated more than 91,000 food items to support students and families across the state.
