Rolling Meadows offering free CO detectors to residents in need

The Rolling Meadows Fire Department, in partnership with the Meijer Store in Rolling Meadows, is offering free carbon monoxide detectors to residents in need.

Carbon monoxide is produced by fuel-burning appliances such as furnaces, water heaters and stoves, as well as fireplaces and vehicles. Because it cannot be seen or smelled, exposure can lead to symptoms often mistaken for the flu, including headache, dizziness, nausea, and confusion. High levels can quickly become lethal.

Residents interested in receiving a free carbon monoxide detector or learn more about the program can call (847) 397-3352 ext. 4041, or email fireprevention@cityrm.org.
