Oak Brook Park District earns top national budget award

On its very first submission, Oak Brook Park District earned the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association, the highest national recognition in governmental budgeting.

The award honors the park district’s 2025-26 fiscal budget, which underwent a rigorous independent review and was evaluated for its effectiveness as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communications tool.

Achieving proficiency in all four categories and all 14 mandatory criteria on the first attempt is a remarkable accomplishment.

“This recognition is a testament to our team’s dedication, transparency, and commitment to responsible stewardship of public resources,” said Laure Kosey, executive director.

The budget provides a detailed look at operating costs, capital projects, and programs, along with performance metrics and long-term financial planning. It gives residents a clear view of how public resources are allocated while ensuring strategic planning for the future.

“This award reflects our ongoing commitment to responsible management of public funds and our dedication to maintaining transparency for our residents,” said Marco Salinas, chief financial officer.

Oak Brook Park District recognizes and thanks their dedicated staff for their hard work and the community for their trust and support in helping Oak Brook Park District serve the community with excellence.
