Road crew worker seriously injured in crash near Long Grove
A member of a road construction crew collecting equipment along Old McHenry Road near Long Grove Thursday night suffered serious injuries after he was thrown from the bed of a pickup truck when it was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
Lake County sheriff’s investigators said the crash happened at about 9:15 p.m. near the intersection with Prairie Wind Road when a Ford F350 driven by a 38-year-old Hawthorn Woods man struck the rear of the construction truck.
Authorities said the construction truck’s emergency lights were activated at the time of the collision that knocked the 42-year-old worker out of the bed and onto the ground. The driver of the F350 was unhurt, authorities said.
The crash remains under investigation and charges are under “review,” authorities said.
