Batavia to open temporary warming center for at-risk residents this weekend

With wind chill temperatures expected to be below zero this weekend, Batavia will open a temporary warming center for the elderly, families with small children and other vulnerable residents at the Batavia Police Department, 100 N. Island Ave.

The center will operate from Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. until Dec. 15 at 9 a.m. While it will be open all hours, the center will be unable to provide sleeping accommodations, dedicated hygiene or washing facilities or refrigerators for food storage.
