Sony Pictures’ Wonderverse in Oak Brook to close this month
Less than two years after opening, Sony Pictures’ immersive entertainment venue Wonderverse in Oak Brook is slated to close this month.
The company made the announcement on its social media channels Thursday.
The statement said they’ll be “concluding operations on Dec. 22 as the venue prepares to transition to a new concept.”
There was no indication of what that concept would be.
The entertainment-themed bar and restaurant opened amid much hype in January 2024 in Oakbrook Center. The 45,000-square-foot space featured attractions inspired by Sony Pictures Entertainment properties, including films, television series and video games such as “Ghostbusters,” “Jumanji” and “Uncharted.”
The company’s post encouraged people with Wonderverse Play Cards or certificates to redeem them through December 21. They said credits on PlayCards that were purchased are eligible for a refund to the original form of payment. Questions were to be directed to Admin@WonderverseChicago.com.
Upcoming scheduled events, including a brunch with Santa on Dec. 21, were still expected to take place.
