One hospitalized after rollover crash into a creek near Elgin
One person suffered minor injuries and possible hypothermia on Thursday after being trapped in their car when it rolled over and landed in a creek near Elgin.
The Pingree Grove & Countryside Fire Protection District said in a press release that firefighters responded just after 9 a.m. Thursday to the 9N600 block of Kendall Road and found a car upside down and partially submerged in water with the occupant trapped inside.
Firefighters were able to extricate and rescue the person within 10 minutes. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to a hospital with minor injuries and signs of hypothermia from exposure to the cold water.
The initial investigation indicates that ice on the driveway contributed to the vehicle leaving the road. The incident is still under investigation by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office.
