Nonprofit needs help wrapping presents in Des Plaines
A Chicago-area nonprofit group is seeking volunteers to help wrap holiday presents for kids and families Saturday, Dec. 13.
Kids Above All is gathering folks together from 10 a.m. to noon at its Better Life Distribution Center, 1801 E. Oakton St. in Des Plaines. City Clerk Dominik Bronakowski, Mayor Andrew Goczkowski and state Sen. Laura Murphy of Des Plaines are scheduled to participate.
Participants will wrap, sort and organize gifts. Doughnuts and coffee will be provided.
Kids Above All conducts annual winter gift drives that provide toys, books and clothes to more than 1,600 kids dealing with poverty, violence and other issues.
Bronakowski helped organize and promote Saturday’s event. He described himself as “an extremely passionate advocate” of the work Kids Above All does.
“Your support helps ensure they feel valued and uplifted during the holidays,” Bronakowski said in an email.
