The meaning of Pearl Harbor Day

Sunday, Dec. 7, marked Pearl Harbor Day. This solemn anniversary recognizes the attack on Dec. 7, 1941, that claimed more than 2,400 American lives and changed the course of our nation’s history.

On this day, we honor the service members who were lost, the survivors who carried their stories forward, and the generations who answered the call to defend our country in the years that followed.

Pearl Harbor Day is a reminder of the courage, sacrifice and resilience that define our nation; values we continue to uphold by remembering and reflecting on this day.
