‘Affordability’ a myth?

The inflation rate when Donald Trump took office in January 2025 was 3%. Not so good. By April the inflation rate had dropped to 2.3%. Much better, because Bidenomics was starting to kick in. And then, on April 3, Trump’s new “Liberation Day” tariffs were announced. Today, Donald Trump has taken us backwards, to an inflation rate of 3%.

The rise in inflation may not all be due to the tariffs, but they are certainly a contributor. Other factors are rising housing costs, health care costs and the cost of groceries. And the bad news is that the effects of the inflationary tariffs are just kicking in. But don’t worry, according to Donald Trump, affordability is fake news.
