Roof fire at Des Plaines paper company quickly contained

The roof of International Paper in Des Plaines caught fire Thursday afternoon, on the block of 100 E. Oakton Street. The Des Plaines Fire Department responded quickly, promptly bringing the fire under control.

The incident was extinguished roughly 15 minutes after the fire department arrived. Firefighters confirmed there were no injuries, and the fire did not extend into the interior of the building.

Des Plaines Fire Department investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire. Mount Prospect, Park Ridge and North Maine Fire Departments provided mutual aid assistance.
