Larson withdraws as Lake County Board challenger in District 6
Hainesville resident Kristal Larson has withdrawn her candidacy for the Democratic nomination to the Lake County Board District 6 seat.
The former Avon township clerk and first openly transgender candidate to win elected office in Lake County announced on Facebook that she is suspending her campaign due to undisclosed personal reasons.
Larson was challenging incumbent Grayslake resident John Wasik for the seat. She said she has reached out to donors to return or redirect donations and that an anonymous contributions will be donated to PADS Lake County.
District 6 includes Grayslake, Hainesville, Round Lake, Highland lake and Third lake and portions of Fremont and Lake Villa townships. County board members also serve as forest preserve district commissioners.
