‘From Stillness to Song’: United Methodist Church of Geneva hosts Christmas cantata
The United Methodist Church of Geneva invites the community to experience its annual Christmas cantata on Sunday, Dec. 14, with performances at 9 and 10:30 a.m. at the church, 211 Hamilton St.
A cherished Geneva tradition since 1985, this year’s cantata — conducted by director of music Mike Popplewell—features classic carols accompanied by a 10-piece chamber orchestra.
“From Stillness to Song: The Journey to Christmas” traces the story of the Incarnation through beloved works by Howells, Rutter, Willcocks, and Holst. Together, journey from stillness to song, from waiting to wonder, and from darkness to light as you celebrate the love of God made flesh in the birth of Christ.
The 9 a.m. performance also will be livestreamed, making it accessible to those worshiping from home. Extended nursery care (infant through pre-kindergarten) will be available during both services. This is a joyful, family-friendly event, welcoming all generations.
After each service, guests are invited to stop by the popular Christmas bake sale, where free-will offerings support the Emergency Solidarity Fund to help churches in the area that directly serve migrants.
All are welcome. For information, visit genevaumc.org or instagram.com/umcgeneva/.
