Find handcrafted gifts at Fine Line’s Artisan Gift Sale Dec. 4-9
Fine Line Creative Arts Center's annual Artisan Gift Sale kicks off at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4. Located on Bolcum Road in St. Charles, the art center has hosted this event for many years, and each year it gets better.
Over 70 local artists have been busy creating items for the sale. Some of the artists sell exclusively at Fine Line. “The talent and creativity of our artists is amazing,” said Lynn Caldwell, executive director. “Every year, I am just blown away by the incredible selection of items. Each artist is unique, which makes this show so great, as there is such a wide variety of items.”
The seasonal decorations available during this event are always impressive, featuring tree ornaments, including some fun sweater designs thanks to new artist Tetyana Sofiychuk, nativity scenes, table decorations, and more. It's a great place to find unique decorations for your celebrations.
As always, there will be a selection of handcrafted mugs in various sizes. Whether you need just one morning cup of coffee or a large mug to kick-start your day, you're sure to find one that fits your needs.
The fiber artists at Fine Line have been particularly busy this year, creating scarves, hats, socks, shawls, and more. In addition to wearable art, some artists use fiber in innovative ways.
For example, Lori Miller creates collage pieces inspired by the mosaic format. Rather than traditional stone and tile, Miller uses fabrics and incorporates found objects to create cards and images. She will have a range of cards and framed pictures available at the event.
Several of this year's artists are working with wood, producing amazing items, including wall art by new artist Jim Reedy. Another new artist, Marie Anderson, is a wood turner whose items include spinning tops, which would make great stocking stuffers, and magical wands for the wizard in your life!
The jewelry selection at this show is always stunning, featuring earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and more. If you are looking for a special gift for someone in your life, or perhaps a piece of jewelry for yourself, this event has a fantastic selection. This year, there will also be a range of amazing cufflinks by glass artist Jim Braun.
The Artisan Gift Sale is set up throughout Fine Line's Kavanagh Gallery and adjoining studio. There will be a range of items to suit all budgets. No matter who you are shopping for, you are bound to find something for everyone on your list at this year's Artisan Gift Sale.
It's worth visiting more than once to ensure you don't miss out, as even though all items are out on opening night, things get moved around and new treasures often reveal themselves on later days.
Additionally, Fine Line will hold their annual yarn sale during the Artisan Gift Sale, with 25% off all yarn, including items already marked down. With winter just around the corner, it's a great time to stock up on yarn for knitting during the cold months.
