More than 550 free turkeys were distributed to help needy families in Maine Township
A Thanksgiving dinner was supplied by several of the organizers, and what seemed to be a long line of cars wound through the Maine Township township area.
On Saturday morning, more than 50 volunteers from neighboring Maine Township neighborhoods and other organizations that uplift and support the communities of Chicago and the surrounding areas expertly monitored the annual Thanksgiving turkey drive.
At 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, in Maine Township, a number of organizations came together to distribute more than 550 turkeys to people in need. the collaboration of Pakistan American Chamber of Commerce Chicago, Trustee Aasif Malik, Empowering Women NFP, and the well-known organization Care & Cure in Chicago. State Senator Laura Murphy, Maine Township Supervisor Kamberly Jones, and numerous political officials from Maine Township were among the volunteers.
Each year, the event helps local families financially so they can share Thanksgiving meals. One family at a time, volunteers loaded boxes of Thanksgiving turkey, veggies, stuffing mix, and other items into cars.
Trustee Asif Malik thanks volunteers and the community for volunteering their time to assist with this event. Malik also expresses his gratitude to several organizations for their yearly charity contributions to the community and for the thoughtful gift they gave to a lucky event participant. Malik wished his loved ones a happy and healthy Thanksgiving in an interview with the local media. Be the person that someone else could need.
Farvah Hussain, chair of Empowering Women NFP, said, “We were able to come up with enough turkeys for 550 families today.” Her next project is organizing a Christmas toy drive for families in the Chicago area.
