Man injured after Metra train strikes vehicle in Arlington Heights
A Metra train crashed into a vehicle Saturday evening in Arlington Heights, sending a man to the hospital with injuries.
Metra officials said the vehicle was blocking the tracks at the Arlington Heights Road crossing at about 6:30 p.m. when it was struck by an outbound Union Pacific Northwest Line train.
The collision disrupted rail service for at least two hours, officials said.
A man was in the vehicle at the time of the crash and was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, officials said. His condition was not immediately available Sunday.
No passengers on the train were injured, and the train was undamaged, according to Metra officials.
Metra police have not issued citations at this time.
