Fire leaves Naperville apartment building uninhabitable

No one was injured after a fire was reported to the Naperville Fire Department at 9:15 a.m. Sunday.

Firefighters located the fire in the attic of the apartment building and worked to put it out while evacuating residents in the building.

The fire was brought under control and declared extinguished at 9:40 a.m., and there were no reported injuries. However, the Naperville Transportation, Engineering, and Development (TED) team declared two of the building’s eight units to be uninhabitable.

Damage is estimated to exceed $20,000, and three adults were displaced as a result of the incident. The fire was determined to be accidental.
