Wheeling veterans group donates winter wear to charity

Members of AMVETS Post No. 66 on Friday delivered a carload of donated winter clothing and gear to a suburban organization that helps veterans, active-duty troops and their families in need.

The coats and other items were bagged up and driven to the Midwest Veterans Closet in North Chicago.

The items had been collected in the AMVETS post’s annual clothing drive.

AMVETS Post 66 is at 700 McHenry Road. Member meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month. Guests are welcome.
