Palatine Township Supervisor honored as 2025 Supervisor of the Year
Palatine Township Supervisor Andy-John G. Kalkounos was selected as the 2025 Supervisor of the Year by the Illinois Township Association of General Assistance Caseworkers, chosen from among 1,431 Illinois townships. Presented at the 118th Township Officials of Illinois Annual Conference, this statewide recognition reflects the significant progress, modernization and resident-focused improvements within Palatine Township. Over 1,000 elected officials, staff and community leaders from across the state attended this annual educational and networking conference.
“This honor represents the hard work of our entire township team,” Supervisor Kalkounos said. “Our residents expect professionalism, transparency, fiscal responsibility, and a high standard of service. We take that responsibility seriously, and we are proud to see Palatine Township recognized at the state level.”
Under the leadership of Supervisor Kalkounos, Palatine Township has strengthened its financial policies, modernized operations, enhanced communication with residents including digital accessibility. He led the expansion of township services in food pantry, general assistance, outreach, transportation, emergency assistance and essential resources.
Relationships matter to Kalkounos who has built strong partnerships with all eight township municipalities, legislators, veteran services, senior groups and community stakeholders ensuring that Palatine Township residents have consistent access to support.
He credits the progress to the united Township Board, the staff and the volunteers who serve the community daily. Palatine Township remains focused on transparent, effective and service-driven local government.
Palatine Township is the main source of humanitarian aid in the community and one of the most heavily populated in Illinois, with a goal to enhance and improve the quality of life for all of its 115,000 residents. Palatine Township is an award-winning local government, recognized with honors including 2025 Supervisor of the Year, 2024 Government Finance Officers Association Award, and Township Officials of Illinois awards for 2023 and 2021 Innovative Township Program of the Year and 2016 Caseworker of the Year. Palatine Township remains focused on delivering essential services with consistency, clarity and care to residents across eight municipalities: Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Inverness, Arlington Heights, Hoffman Estates, Barrington, South Barrington and Schaumburg.
