Fire causes $160K damage to Hoffman Estates home
No injuries were reported Saturday after flames engulfed a Hoffman Estates home, causing an estimated $160,000 in damage, officials said.
Fire crews called to the blaze at 3:50 p.m. in the 1200 block of Goldenrod Lane arrived to find heavy fire and smoke coming from the two-story residence, according to the Hoffman Estates Fire Department.
Firefighters attacked the fire with a pre-connected hose line, bringing the body of fire under control. Overhaul was completed to ensure the fire was extinguished.
The Streamwood, Palatine and Rolling Meadows fire departments also responded to the scene, while the Elk Grove, Schaumburg, Bartlett and Elgin fire departments assisted with providing station coverage, officials said. Further assistance was provided by Hoffman Estates Police Department, Hanover Township Emergency Services Com-Ed and Nicor.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The home did have working smoke detectors, but it was not equipped with a residential sprinkler system, according to the fire department.
