Where are true reforms?
The government shutdown has brought a focus on SNAP benefits. If one in eight people are receiving this benefit, it seems some reforms are needed. Why is this the case? The estimate of $9 billion monthly for SNAP payments is concerning. I’d like to see some reporting on the root causes. This tells me that working folks can’t afford food, health care or possibly home ownership.
If this is the case, then I agree the system is broken and it has been taken over by corporations, oligarchs, greed and corruption.
What are the ramifications of paying workers a living wage and ending tax breaks for the wealthy?
