Help Schaumburg Township families share in the spirit of Thanksgiving
As Thanksgiving approaches, Schaumburg Township’s Food Pantry is working tirelessly to ensure every family in the community has the opportunity to gather around a table filled with warmth, comfort and nourishment. The need this year is greater than ever, and the pantry is calling on the generosity of local residents to help meet that demand.
Along with traditional Thanksgiving favorites, such as stuffing, instant potatoes, canned vegetables, gravy and cranberry sauce, the township is especially in need of frozen whole turkeys, turkey breasts and whole chickens to help families enjoy a complete holiday meal. These protein donations go a long way toward making the day special for those who might otherwise go without.
Beyond the holidays, the Food Pantry continues to serve more than 1,300 households each month (seeing at least a 10% increase in November and December). Donations of nonperishable foods, household essentials and personal care items help families stretch their budgets long after the festive season has passed. Every can, every box and every thoughtful contribution helps bring comfort and stability to a neighbor in need.
Monetary donations also make a powerful impact. A $20 contribution can provide a 5-pound turkey or all the holiday sides for a family of four, or even supply toilet paper for 15 families. Donations can be made quickly and securely at schaumburgtownship.org/food-pantry.
Community members can drop off donations from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the North Entrance of the Township building, 1 Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates. Keeping protein donations frozen ensures the pantry can safely store and distribute them to families when needed most.
This Thanksgiving, a simple act of kindness can mean everything to a family facing hard times. By giving what you can — whether it’s food or funds — you’re helping spread hope, dignity and the true spirit of the season in Schaumburg Township.
