Police seek help finding missing man whose disappearance may involve foul play
Authorities are seeking public help to find a Mundelein-area man who hasn’t been seen in more than a week and whose disappearance may involve foul play.
Foul play could be linked to the disappearance of Ruslan Furman, 51, last known to live on the 16500 block of North Route 83 in an unincorporated area near Mundelein, according to Lake County sheriff’s Deputy Chief Chris Covelli.
He declined to provide further detail but noted there may be suspicious circumstances involving Furman’s disappearance.
Route 60/83 near the Diamond Lake Sports Complex was closed Tuesday afternoon as detectives assisted by a SWAT team searched Furman’s last known home for any crime-related evidence, Covelli said.
SWAT was involved as it was not known if anyone else was living in the home or what they might encounter, he added. The road was closed because not all of their equipment fit in the driveway and would have been a hazard to passing motorists.
The search Tuesday was not immigration related and was part of an ongoing investigation, Covelli said.
There was no threat to the community, he added.
