Police: Man brought drugs on Amtrak from California to Naperville

A Chicago man has been accused of trafficking in cocaine and methamphetamine by bringing the drugs from California to Naperville via Amtrak.

Brock Okennard, 45, of the 200 block of West 106th Place, is charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance — cocaine, manufacture or delivery of cannabis, possession of cannabis and resisting a peace officer — causing injury.

The Drug Enforcement Administration told Naperville police Saturday that Okennard, a suspect in a drug-trafficking investigation in which drugs were trafficked from California to Illinois, would be getting off an Amtrak train in Naperville.

There were also two active arrest warrants for Okennard.

When Naperville police tried to arrest him, Okennard scuffled with them, according to the charges. The officers sustained minor injuries.

Police found 153.6 grams of a pink powder that tested positive for methamphetamine and cocaine and 993.7 grams of cannabis, according to a news release from the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office.

Okennard is being detained pretrial.

His next court date is Dec. 8.
