Police investigating allegations against two fired Hoffman Estates High teachers

Hoffman Estates police say they are investigating allegations of improper contact between two now-former Hoffman Estates High School male teachers and multiple female students.

The investigation is ongoing and no other information is being released at this time, police officials said.

The two teachers were unanimously fired late last week by the Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 school board, which cited numerous instances of improper — and possibly criminal — acts.

The Daily Herald is not naming the two former teachers because they have not been charged.

Allegations against one of the teachers involves at least four female students dating back to the 2017-18 school year. Documents received by the Daily Herald through a public records request indicate the teacher was accused of grooming the students and on at least one occasion improperly touched one of the girls.

The second fired teacher also coached girls sports. He is accused of grooming some of the student-athletes he coached dating back to 2023.

That teacher had been suspended without pay in 2024 for two days because of similar behavior, documents show. He also was accused of kissing at least two of the students, later apologizing to one via social media.

Specific violations mentioned in the board documents included other contact with students that was sexual in nature; inappropriate use of electronic communication; and sexual harassment, which constituted irremediable behavior.

District 211 issued a statement last week saying the well-being and safety of students is a top priority, but declined further comment because the board’s actions involve a personnel matter.
