Sheriff seeking suspects in Maine Township gas station burglary

Cook County sheriff’s investigators are searching for burglars who broke into a gas station in Maine Township on Thursday, taking cash and liquor.

Authorities said deputies initially responded to an alarm at approximately 4:11 a.m. Thursday at a station in the 3200 block of Central Road near Glenview. Deputies found the gas station secure but noticed the one across the street across the street had been burglarized.

Security camera footage recovered during the investigation showed a BMW pulling into the station on the 600 block of Greenwood Avenue minutes earlier, officials said.

After breaking the glass door, three people wearing masks and gloves entered the business and removed cash boxes from a video gaming machine. They also took two bottles of tequila, authorities said.

The group then headed to the other gas station but left when the alarm went off, according to the sheriff’s office.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call sheriff’s detectives at (708) 865-4896.
