US Congress: A call to refocus on the people

Many members of Congress have lost focus on their core job: representing their constituents. Instead of serving the “Folks Back Home,” their attention has turned inward due to institutional politics. The priority for many long-serving legislators has shifted from public service to protecting their own power and position. This loyalty often extends only to their party or the Executive Branch, resulting in highly polarizing actions that are disconnected from the national interest.

Dysfunction is rampant, showing a collective failure to lead effectively.

Democrats are criticized for a strategy dominated by confrontation and complaint rather than effective policymaking. Using the threat of government shutdowns is seen as holding the system hostage and is not leadership.

Republicans are often seen as too focused on implementing the President's agenda or lacking the courage to challenge his demands or actions that diverge from public needs. Blaming the other party or prior administration is scapegoating, not leading; the public simply wants problems fixed.

Americans are tired of leaders whose behavior prioritizes personal interest, political posturing, or unquestioning obedience to a self-serving President.

The American people want their congressional representatives to set aside partisan differences and work together. They want legislators to focus on solving core issues:

  • Health care: Affordable and accessible for all citizens.
  • Economic Stability: A strong economy that works for everyone.
  • Security: Effective and humane border policies, and a military focused on protection, not engaging in questionable foreign interventions.
  • Integrity: A trustworthy, nonpoliticized judicial system and public health leadership run by qualified experts, not political appointees.
  • Functional Governance: Restoring the constitutional checks and balances.

With the world watching the political chaos, Congress must refocus entirely on the American people’s priorities to allow the nation to resume its role as a confident global leader.
